Interligne – Leading
This is the space that exists between lines of text. It is measured from the support of letters on one line to the support of the next.
This space should be determined with care, because if it is too small, the text is linked because the ascendants of the lower row touch the descendants of the upper row. On the contrary, if it is large, the text disintegrates into lines.
Alphabetical Structure
The proportions of the components of the letters should be studied, in particular the ratio between width and height, and the location of the size of the letters.
It is advisable to analyze the structural relations, to study the type of curves, their anatomy, the presence of symmetry and the degrees of synthesis.
The proportions of the letters in the basic style are somewhat narrow. And letters like the”o” are slightly square. The proportions of the letters, when designed together, require a basic proportional regime common to all, such as height lines or guidelines.
Serifs
It is advisable to study the shape of the serifs, the types of connections to the stem, the color of the serif, the similarity or the difference of the serifs according to the structure.
